The officials correctly assessed the technical foul on the taunting player, but the administration was done very poorly. The correct procedure would be to whistle and signal the technical foul so everyone knows what is happening. There is no signal at all. Since this player who received the “T” is considered bench personnel, the head coach should have been made to sit for the rest of the game. Also, the visiting team comes out of their timeout early and the officials administer the free throws for the technical foul before the white team leaves their timeout huddle and the white team head coach doesn’t even know his team has been assessed a technical foul.
